The BagClamp was a product that was created at Slant 3D. This project was inspired by the need to clean up the bags in our break area at the office. After having enough, our team decided to create the BagClamp.
When we started the project we took 2 days to go through ideas. We settled on the clamp design and figured out the basic design of the cap and spout. This setup would let us seal a bag effectively but still provide easy access to the contents by just unscrewing the lid.
After we several functional prototypes were 3D Printed we were able to place the BagClamp on Kickstarter. This let us gauge market acceptance before producing thousands of pieces of inventory. The response was amazing. During a 1 month campaign with no marketing the BagClamp raised more than 11 thousand dollars.
The several thousand clamps needed for the Kickstarter were produced at Slant 3D Printer farms in order order to avoid the high cost of molds. This also gave us the ability to adjust the design from the original production design after feedback came back from customers.
Now the BagClamp is available on Angled.io. Whenever a customer makes an order the BagClamp is printed and shipped that day. And the original designer receives a 20% royalty from the sale.
If you have an idea for product go ahead and submit it to Angled. If it meets our standards for products then we will get it up onto the website. Then whenever a customer orders your product it will be printed and shipped to them. And if you product shows really great promise then our team will work with you to improve it and market it even more (Maybe even help with a kickstarter campaign). And at the end of the day you, as the designer, will receive a 20-30% royalty from every copy of your product sold. And Angled.io takes care of all of the printing, shipping, and even a chunk of the marketing.
